What is skilled nursing?

Skilled nursing is medical care that is provided by a trained registered nurse in a medical setting under a physician's guidance. It's the same type and level of nursing care you would find in a hospital. Patients may start at a hospital and then move to a skilled nursing facility to continue rehabilitation following an injury, a surgery, or an illness.

Who can be considered a skilled nurse?

Typically, a registered nurse (RN) would be the ideal candidate to engage in skilled nursing care. Skilled nursing essentially refers to a type of care more so than a specific type of nurse. At Guardian Care & Rehabilitation Center, residents have access to registered nurses, certified nursing assistants (CNAs), licensed nurse practitioners, and many more types of physicians, counselors, and therapists.
